How do I make a personalized link for one recipient?
Pick + New personalized link, name it, then edit what that recipient sees. Personalization is an add-on — if it is off, ask Bridger with Get started.
A personalized link is a link to your presentation made for one recipient, with content tailored to them, such as their name, their company, or a different image. To make one, open the presentation, open the link selector at the top left, and choose + New personalized link. Give it a name, then edit what that recipient will see.
What do I need before I can personalize?
Three things, and the first two only Bridger can switch on:
- Personalization is on for this presentation.
- Content editing is on for this presentation.
- You are a Workspace owner or Editor. Members can view and copy personalized links but can't make or change them.
On a presentation Bridger has made private, a personalized link only opens once its recipient's email is set under Who is this personalized for?, because that address is where the verification code goes.
What if Personalization isn't turned on?
Ask your Bridger team to turn it on. Personalization is an add-on that only Bridger can switch on for a presentation; you can't turn it on yourself.
- Open the presentation. Where + New personalized link would be, you'll see Ask Bridger about turning on Personalization for this presentation.
- Select Get started. Your request goes to your Bridger team, who reply by email.
You can also ask from anywhere in your workspace: select Get Help, then Ask a question. See how to contact the Bridger team.
How do I make a personalized link?
- Open the presentation from Library.
- Open the link selector at the top left. It shows Standard link to begin with.
- Choose + New personalized link.
- Under Name, type who it's for: a person ("Jane Okafor") or an account ("Acme").
- Select Add.
The new link is selected straight away and the presentation switches to Personalize mode. A note beside the selector reads Changes only apply to that recipient's link. Everything you change while it's selected applies to that link only. Select the note to dismiss it.
How do I change what the recipient sees?
While the link is selected, you have two ways to edit:
- On the slide. Edit buttons appear only on the parts of the presentation that can differ per recipient. Select one, change it, then select Publish changes.
- In the Personalize panel. Select the Personalized Fields button under the presentation to see everything that varies for this recipient, slide by slide. Switch between Current slide and All slides at the top of the panel. If the panel says no fields are personalized yet, your Bridger team hasn't chosen any fields that can vary; ask them to open some up.
Under Settings in the panel you can change the link's Name and Email. The panel reminds you: Anyone with this link will see this recipient's version. Personalizing changes what's on the link, not who can open it. See who can see a share link.
Changes go live when you publish them. Anyone who opens the link afterward sees the new version.
How does personalized text fill in?
Some text in a presentation contains placeholders that fill in per link. A placeholder is written like {{recipientFirstName|there}}: the part before the bar is what fills in, and the part after it is shown when there's nothing to fill in. So "Hi {{recipientFirstName|there}}" reads "Hi Jane" on Jane's link and "Hi there" on a link with no name.
There are two kinds:
| Kind | Examples | Where the value comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient | Recipient first name, Recipient full name, Recipient email, Recipient company | The link's Name and Email, and the values you type in the Personalize panel |
| Sender | Sender name, Sender title, Sender email, Sender phone, Sender calendar, Sender headshot | The profile of the person who made the link |
The first word of the link's name becomes the recipient's first name. Sender values can't be typed in the panel. They come from the link creator's Settings → My profile, so fill in your Title, Phone, Calendar and photo before you send.
Placeholders are added to the presentation's shared wording by the Bridger team. You can edit the words around a placeholder that's already there, but adding a new one is something only Bridger can do, so the editor offers you no button for it. If you type one in by hand, the change is refused with Only the Bridger team can add a personalized field here.
What does the Signature switch do?
If the presentation shows sender details, a Signature switch appears under it, labeled Signed by and a name. On a personalized link it's saved with the link. Turn it off and that link stops showing the sender's details, falling back to the presentation's default wording and images. On the standard link it only changes your preview, so you can see what a visitor gets.
Can a personalized link have its own page order?
Yes, if Bridger has also turned on reordering and your presentation's build supports it. With the link selected, switch to Grid under the presentation. Drag pages to reorder them, or use a page's ⋯ menu to Hide it. The change applies to this link only. Reset order puts the link back on the standard link's order and visibility. The cover always stays first. See how to edit your presentation.
How do I send or delete a personalized link?
While the link is selected, the Share button becomes Copy link. Select it and paste the link to your recipient.
To delete one, open the ⋯ menu, select View all links, filter to Personalized, and select the delete button on its row. Anyone holding it loses access, and its recorded sessions are removed. You can't undo this.
