How do I make an edition of a presentation?
Pick + New edition, name it, then change what that edition shows. Editions are an add-on; if they are off, ask Bridger with Get started.
An edition is a cut of your presentation for a team, region or audience. It has its own numbers and screens, keeps its named links and the sender's signature, and updates with the main edition. To make one, open the presentation, open the edition selector at the top left, and choose + New edition. Give it a name, then change what that edition shows.
Anything you have not changed in an edition comes from the Main edition, so when the main presentation is updated, every edition picks up the change.
Editions are part of the Editor + Editions add-on. If you already see + New edition in the edition selector, it is turned on for this presentation.
What do I need before I can make an edition?
Three things, and the first two only Bridger can switch on:
- Editions is on for this presentation.
- Content editing is on for this presentation.
- You are a Workspace owner or Editor. Members can view and copy edition links but cannot make or change editions.
On a presentation Bridger has made private, an edition only opens once its email is set under Who is this edition for?, because that address is where the verification code goes.
What if Editions is not turned on?
Ask your Bridger team to turn it on. Editions is an add-on that only Bridger can switch on for a presentation; you cannot turn it on yourself.
- Open the presentation. Where + New edition would be, you see Ask Bridger about turning on Editions for this presentation.
- Select Get started. Your request goes to your Bridger team, who reply by email.
You can also ask from anywhere in your workspace: select Get Help, then Ask a question. See how to contact the Bridger team.
How do I make an edition?
- Open the presentation from Library.
- Open the edition selector at the top left. It shows Main edition to begin with.
- Choose + New edition.
- Under Name, type who it is for: a team or region ("West region") or an account ("Acme").
- Select Add.
The new edition is selected straight away and the presentation switches to Edit edition mode. A note beside the selector reads Changes only apply to the edition you named. Everything you change while it is selected applies to that edition only. Select the note to dismiss it.
How do I change what an edition shows?
While the edition is selected, you have two ways to edit:
- On the slide. Edit buttons appear only on the parts of the presentation that can vary by edition. Select one, change it, then select Publish changes.
- In the Edit edition panel. Select the Edition Fields button under the presentation to see everything that varies for this edition, slide by slide. Switch between Current slide and All slides at the top of the panel. If the panel says no fields vary by edition yet, your Bridger team has not chosen any fields that can vary; ask them to open some up.
Under Settings in the panel you can change the edition's Name and Email. The panel reminds you: Anyone with this link will see this edition. Changing an edition changes what is on its link, not who can open it. See who can see a share link.
Changes go live when you publish them. Anyone who opens the edition afterward sees the new version.
How does personalized text fill in?
Some text in a presentation contains placeholders that fill in per link. A placeholder is written like {{recipientFirstName|there}}: the part before the bar is what fills in, and the part after it is shown when there is nothing to fill in. So "Hi {{recipientFirstName|there}}" reads "Hi Jane" on an edition named Jane and "Hi there" on a link with no name.
There are two kinds:
| Kind | Examples | Where the value comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient | Recipient first name, Recipient full name, Recipient email, Recipient company | The edition's Name and Email, and the values you type in the Edit edition panel |
| Sender | Sender name, Sender title, Sender email, Sender phone, Sender calendar, Sender headshot | The profile of the person who made the link |
The first word of the edition's name becomes the recipient's first name. Sender values cannot be typed in the panel. They come from the link creator's Settings → My profile, so fill in your Title, Phone, Calendar and photo before you send.
Placeholders are added to the presentation's shared wording by the Bridger team. You can edit the words around a placeholder that is already there, but adding a new one is something only Bridger can do, so the editor offers you no button for it. If you type one in by hand, the change is refused with Only the Bridger team can add a personalized field here.
What does the Signature switch do?
If the presentation shows sender details, a Signature switch appears under it, labeled Signed by and a name. On an edition it is saved with the edition. Turn it off and that edition stops showing the sender's details, falling back to the presentation's default wording and images. On the main edition it only changes your preview, so you can see what a visitor gets.
Can an edition have its own page order?
Yes, if Bridger has also turned on reordering and your presentation's build supports it. With the edition selected, switch to Grid under the presentation. Drag pages to reorder them, or use a page's ⋯ menu to Hide it. The change applies to this edition only. Reset order puts the edition back on the main edition's order and visibility. The cover always stays first. See how to edit your presentation.
How do I send or delete an edition?
While the edition is selected, the Share button becomes Copy link. Select it and paste the link to your recipient.
To delete one, open the ⋯ menu, select View all links, filter to Editions, and select the delete button on its row. Anyone holding its link loses access, and its recorded sessions are removed. You cannot undo this.
