Can my share links use my own domain?
Yes. Bridger can serve your workspace's share links from a subdomain you own, like view.yourcompany.com, after your IT team adds one DNS record.
Yes. Bridger can send your workspace's share links from a subdomain of your own website, such as view.yourcompany.com, instead of the Bridger portal address. Your IT team adds one DNS record, Bridger connects it, and every link you share from then on uses your domain. Links you have already sent keep working.
How do I get it set up?
Ask Bridger. In the Share dialog, select Want these links on your own domain? Ask about branded links., or select Get Help in your workspace. Bridger sets the domain up for you; there is nothing to configure in the portal yourself.
- Choose the subdomain. We suggest
view.yourcompany.com. It is short and tells the person opening it exactly what to expect. It has to be a subdomain: the bareyourcompany.comandwww.yourcompany.comcannot be used. - Bridger adds it and sends you the DNS record to create, usually a single
CNAMErecord. - Your IT team adds the record wherever your domain's DNS is managed.
- Bridger checks the record every 15 minutes and lets you know when the domain is live.
What does my IT team need to do?
Add the record exactly as Bridger sends it. It looks like this:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
CNAME | view | the address Bridger sends you |
Three things that commonly stop it working:
- Cloudflare's proxy is on. If your DNS is managed in Cloudflare, the record must be set to DNS only (the grey cloud), not Proxied (the orange cloud).
- A
CAArecord blocks the certificate. If your domain has aCAArecord, it needs to allowletsencrypt.org, which issues the certificate that secures your links. - The domain was used with another Vercel account. Bridger will then also send a
TXTrecord, which proves the domain is yours.
Bridger's setup screen names whichever of these it finds, so we can tell you exactly what to change.
How long does it take?
DNS changes can take up to an hour to show. Once the record is visible, the secure certificate is usually issued within a few minutes.
What changes once it is live?
- New share links use your domain, whether you copy them from the Share dialog, a project card or the embed code.
- Links you already sent keep working on the Bridger portal address. Nothing needs to be re-sent.
- Signing in stays on the Bridger portal address. Your domain shows shared presentations only; it does not open your workspace.
- Link previews in Slack, LinkedIn and email show your domain when the link that was shared uses it.
What if it stops working?
Bridger checks every live domain once a day. If the record is changed or removed, Bridger is alerted and new links go back to the portal address until it is fixed, so anything you share in the meantime still opens. Links already sent on your domain depend on your DNS: if the record was really removed, they stop opening until it is put back.
If you stop using the domain, ask Bridger to remove it, then delete the DNS record.
