How do I change the numbers in a calculator?
In Edit, open Calculation values, change a rate or limit, check the before and after, and publish. The formula itself is changed by your Bridger team.
Some presentations include a calculator, such as a tax estimate or a savings projection. You can change the numbers the calculator uses, like a tax rate, a deduction or a bracket limit. The formula that uses them stays the same.
Where to find it
Switch the presentation from Preview to Edit. There are two ways in:
- Select the Edit values button on the calculator's results.
- Select Calculation values at the bottom of the screen, next to your other editing tools.
Both open the same panel, with every number grouped by section. Long tables, such as tax brackets, are folded away until you open them.
Changing a number
Type the new value. The presentation updates as you type, so you can see the effect before anything goes live.
- A changed number shows what it was before, with Reset beside it.
- Each number only accepts values that make sense for it. For example, a rate stays between 0% and its maximum, and limits in a table must go up row by row. If a value is out of range, the panel says why and you can't publish until it's fixed.
- Before you publish shows the calculator's main result at its starting values and at its lowest and highest settings, live and with your changes. A change of more than half is marked Large change so you can double-check it.
When you're happy, select Publish. The new numbers are live straight away for everyone who opens the presentation. There is no approval step, and every change is kept in the presentation's history.
Who can change calculation values?
Owners and Editors in your workspace, once Bridger has turned on Calculation values for the presentation. It's separate from editing text, so it may be on for one and not the other.
Changing how it's calculated
The panel only changes numbers. If the calculation itself needs to change, for example to add state tax or another step, select Request a formula change, describe what should be different and select Send to Bridger. Your request includes the presentation's name and its current numbers, and your Bridger team will send back an updated version.
