How do checkpoints work?
A checkpoint is up to five multiple-choice questions on a path. Each answer is marked at once, the step is done when you have answered them all, and you can go again.
A checkpoint is a short quiz on a path: up to five multiple-choice questions, one at a time. Each answer is marked the moment you pick it, with the right answer and why. The checkpoint step is done once you have answered every question, right or wrong, and you can Go again as often as you like without lowering your best score.
How do I take a checkpoint?
- On your path, unfold the step marked Checkpoint. Its line says how many questions it has.
- Read the question and click an answer. The screen says Pick one. The next question follows on its own.
- Your answer is marked straight away: Right. or Not quite., the correct option highlighted, and the reason underneath.
- The next question slides in by itself after a moment. Click Next (or Finish on the last question) to skip the wait.
What do I see at the end?
This try: 4 of 5 right, followed by each question you missed, with what you picked above the right answer. Get them all and it says Every one right.
Click Go again to clear the screen and answer the questions from the start.
Beside the checkpoint in the step list, a Best score like Best 4/5 shows your highest finished try. A retry that goes worse never lowers it; if your best is higher than this try, the end screen says Your best so far with that score.
When is the checkpoint step done?
As soon as you have answered every question once, whatever you scored. There is no pass mark on an ordinary path, and a wrong answer does not hold you back. On a path that unlocks in order, the steps after a checkpoint open once it is done.
A finished checkpoint cannot be unticked.
Is there a pass mark?
Only on a path that offers a certification with a checkpoint pass mark. There, until your best reaches the mark, the end screen adds a line like Certification needs 4 of 5., and the Certification card lists each checkpoint against the mark.
What counts toward the pass mark is your best finished try — one where you answered every question. A try you leave partway through is not scored, so go through to the last question each time. See How do I get certified on a path?.
Who sees my answers?
| What | Who sees it |
|---|---|
| Your answers, try by try | You, on the screen |
| How many people missed each question the first time | Learning managers, as counts. Never names. |
| Your best and first-try scores on each checkpoint | Learning managers, with your request, once you ask for certification sign-off. Only on a certifying path. |
Answers are only kept when the path is assigned to you. Someone previewing the path sees answers marked the same way, and nothing is saved.
