How is a step or path marked complete?
On a path you tick lessons and content yourself, a play completes when you run it, and a checkpoint when every question is answered. A path is complete when every step is.
On a path, a step is complete when the rep does one of three things: ticks it (lessons and content), runs it to its review (plays), or answers every question (checkpoints). A path is complete when every one of its steps is. Nobody can mark a step complete on someone else's behalf, and a manager never has to sign a step off.
What completes each kind of step?

Section headings are not steps. They are never counted, never locked and never completed.
Does a step count on more than one path?
Yes. Completion belongs to the piece of content, per person, not to the path. If the same video sits on two of a rep's paths, ticking it on one shows it done on both. The same goes for plays: running a play from the Sales stages view, outside any path, completes that play's step on every path that includes it.
Lessons and checkpoints are written into one path, so they only ever count there.
Outside a path, opening a video or a Portal project through Sales Academy can mark it complete on its own. Because completion belongs to the content, that also shows on any path it sits on.
When is a whole path complete?
When every step the rep can see is done. A few things follow from that:
- Steps added later count. If a manager adds a step to a path, a rep who had finished it is no longer complete until they do the new step.
- An unpublished play drops out. A play step whose play has been unpublished is hidden from reps and left out of the count, because nobody can run it.
- A path with no steps is never complete.
- Due dates do not affect completion. A section past its date is still finished the same way.
When a rep crosses into complete, the path screen fires confetti and says Path complete. If your workspace posts Sales Academy activity to a team channel, the channel hears about it once per rep per path; unticking and re-ticking the last step does not announce it again.
What does not count?
- Previews. A manager viewing a path as a rep, Preview as rep in the builder, and anyone on the Bridger team can tick boxes and run plays to see how it works. Nothing they do is saved.
- A play left before its review. Leaving a play on its first or second step records nothing.
- A rep without a rep seat. Only people with a rep seat can be on a path.
What do managers see?
Sales Academy managers see each person's progress on a path as steps done out of the path's current total, and Not started until the first one. The number is computed fresh each time from the rules above, so it changes the moment a step is added or a rep unticks something.
